Hi,
I'm developer for a open source project called BongoSurfer ( www.bongosoft.de), a German least-cost-router. I found your page through the KDevelop About Dialog and we like the free icons you have on your board. The case is, we desperately need a good looking Icon for our application. We want to use it as Desktop Icon, as Tray Icon, as the Icon in program's title bar and as favicon and logo on the website.
The icons should show one or two bongo drums, depending on what looks better at small size, e.g. 16x16 pixel favicon. The style of the icon should be like the icons of the Crystal Icon Set by Everaldo, with a shiny glass effect and a bit comic like, as we are already using these icons. The icon should have a transparent background.
We need the icon in different sizes and formats:
32x32 .ico
16x16 .ico
72x72 .png
48x48 .png
36x36 .png
22x22 .png
The icon should be released under GPL.
Are you interested in making the icon and if, what would you charge for it?
Greetings

Hello,
Yes, of course I am interested.
But, because your project is Open Source software, I will not charge you for the icon. I will make it and release it for free under GPL. I only ask to give me credits for it.
Please give me some time, I will post my work here as I go, so you can guide me until it is done.
How does that sound? _______________

Hi
The-Error wrote How does that sound?
Sounds great . We will put links to your homepage in the outlink section on www.bongosoft.de and in the about dialog of the application. Take all the time you need, we are not in a hurry.

Hi,
we have been discussing your proposal on our developer mailing list, that's why it took a few days until I could reply.
We like the icon, there is only one thing we want to change. The color. We want the icon to be more colorful. Could you please use a brown that's less gray and more brown?
We are unsure about the flames and the two lines at the front of the drum. They look good at this size of the image, but we want to know how the icon looks at 22x22 pixels. The flames might look weird at this size, because there are only a few pixels left of them, and the color of the two lines might not provide enough contrast to the color of the drum to be clearly visible. Could you please check the Icon at a size of 22x22 pixels and, in addition to the large image, show us a version at 22x22 pixels next time?

Ok, Ill see what I can do.
The flames and lines I added because the large icon seemed a bit empty, but It can be removed in smaller size of the icon, so it doesn't look weird. _______________

Hi,
if you can make two versions of the icon. A larger one with flames and smaller one without flames the flames are definitely Ok.

Hi,
you are right, the large Image without the flames looks a bit empty. The small image with flames is ok. The color is much better now. We think the icon is nearly done, there is only one thing we want to change. The two lines at the front of the drum should be clearly visible on the small image. Therefor you can make the color on the drum's body lighter, to provide better contrast, and/or you can make the lines broader. Do whatever is needed and what you think is best.

The only way to make the lines visible in size 22x22 is if they are colored lighter like this:

Ok, we think we will go with this version, but we first want to see it in all sizes. Could you please post the icon in the other sizes and formats, so we can check them all?

Hi,
we think the icon looks great and we take it as it now is. But could you please add the large version, you always used as preview, to the zip file? We appreciate your work very much, especially as it is for free. Thanks!
We'll add the references to your page in the program and on the website, starting with the next release, when we start using the icon.
Regards
Bernhard

No problem, I'm glad you like it
Here is the full size version of the icon + the PSD source, in case you need that too.
